Empowering African businesses, their communities and people has always been at the core of what we do. When we started AfricInvest 30 years ago, nobody called this impact investing, whereas nowadays we are praised for being an impact investor. Although the wording might have changed, we have had the same focus and beliefs: providing businesses with the capital they need, supporting quality job creation in the private sector, and expanding access to essential products and services. Making a difference has always been our way of doing business.

In 2021, we strengthened our AfricInvest Management (AIMS) including our approach to impact measurement and management. We are proud of the results we have achieved so far, but we have high ambitions in terms of the impact we still want to create, and we are committed to understanding how we can do better.
Our pan-African investment platform provides financial and non-financial support to aspiring entrepreneurs and companies alike, creating a strong and inclusive African private sector and positively influencing the livelihoods of the communities they serve. In addition to delivering financial returns to investors, we are intentional about creating authentic and positive impact through our funds, and rigorously measuring and communicating this impact.
At AfricInvest, we strive to maximize our own impact and push our own boundaries to take a more outcome-focused measurement. To convey the impact created by our portfolio companies, we need both numbers and stories. We share these stories with you to bring our impact metrics to life. As they have galvanized action among our team, these stories inspire us to continue positively influencing the livelihoods of the communities we serve.
We believe in the power of our capital to drive authentic, measurable and sustainable change. Looking ahead, we want to place climate at the heart of our investment decision-making by deepening our climate measurement and management. We believe that private sector investments can be an important enabler of the continent’s climate mitigation and adaptation solutions.
