David Klingensmith

Mr. David Klingensmith has been in international banking and investing for more than 35 years in the US, Colombia, Pakistan, Hong Kong, the Philippines, Europe and Africa with various institutions including the Asian Development Bank and the Chase Manhattan Bank. He was at the EBRD in risk, ultimately as managing director of risk.  Since then, he has been on corporate and bank boards, a senior advisor at Nestor Advisors on corporate governance, and other risk related consulting.  David’s long standing interest in risk and emerging markets is reflected in his training as an international economist; stints as an assistant in the US Senate and in the international department of the US Treasury; and participation in the Chase Manhattan Bank intensive commercial banking training program.

Mr. Klingensmith has a BA from Tulane University (cum laude) and an MA from Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies. He speaks English, French and Spanish. 

He has been on the investment committee of the Africinvest’s Financial Sector fund since 2014.
